Although there is no known way to alter the weather – other than the long-term effects of global warming, which includes the planet we live on failing to support us far sooner than we’d like – there are, in fact, plenty of ways to respond to what’s going on in the weather. If you don’t stick up against the winter weather, it’s likely you won’t be able to travel where you wish – safely, at least – or even have fun. You need to know what kitty litter, sand, and salt can do for you.

Salt prevents ice from sticking to surfaces. Sand adds traction, helping you drive over ice and through other wintry mixes of already-fallen precipitation. Kitty litter is great for one thing – placing under wheels that don’t have traction – and can be used together with sand. Don’t place kitty litter in the driveway – it’ll get slippery.
